Next steps

  1. If you are the one leaving, give notice in writing and respect the notice period.
  2. If you lose your job through no choice of your own, ask your employer for the unemployment declaration (form RP 5044).
  3. Register with the IEFP (employment office) and apply for unemployment benefit on Segurança Social Direta within 90 days.
  4. Check the pro-rata holiday and Christmas pay on your last payslip.
