How it was calculated
The State pays a percentage of the price depending on the band: 90% in A, 69% in B, 37% in C and 15% in D. Pensioners on low incomes get more: 95% in A, 84% in B, 52% in C and 30% in D.
People receiving the Complemento Solidário para Idosos (elderly solidarity supplement) get reimbursed medicines for free. For generics, the reimbursement may be calculated on a reference price, so the real amount can vary slightly.
